It relies on the severity of the damage. Minor cracks or wear can often be effectively repaired. However, for widespread damage or issues stemming from structural problems, replacing stucco may be more cost-effective in the long run.

Water intrusion is the most serious problem with exterior stucco. If not properly sealed, stucco can absorb water, leading to mold growth, structural damage, and deterioration of the building materials beneath the stucco.

Neglecting stucco repairs can lead to further deterioration, including deep cracking, delamination, and water intrusion, which undermines the structural integrity of the walls and can lead to costly repairs.

This depends on environmental conditions.  In general, Central Florida has a year-round temperate climate and hot, humid, and rainy summers.  Stucco should typically be painted every 10 to 15 years, but it may be much earlier because of environmental conditions and the quality of previous paint applied.

Exterior Insulation and Finish System is an artificial alternative that looks like traditional stucco but includes layers of insulation and is more energy-efficient. Traditional stucco is a hard, dense, cementitious coating that is more durable but less insulating.

Water behind stucco can lead to rot in the wooden structures beneath, mold growth, and a breakdown of the stucco itself, eventually requiring extensive repairs or replacement.

Stucco itself is not waterproof and needs a proper moisture barrier and sealant to prevent water intrusion. Properly maintained, stucco can effectively resist water but should not be considered a primary waterproofing material.
